People living in Africa often have great difficulty receiving and sending even faxes due to problems relating to electricity supply, equipment maintenance, etc. Those people who have access to electronic mail do however receive and send messages without much difficulty.

Organizations such as the South African NGO Network (SANGONet) offer Internet access throughout Africa. I created the first web pages for Technikon SA in April 1995 which were initially hosted by SANGONet and were then moved to a server on the Technikon premises. I now also have a dial-up service from AT&T Global so that I can maintain Internet access while I travel. This wesbite is hosted on WIPC.

I host a number of small websites at this domain, most of which can be accessed at http://pgw.org/.

I have presented papers at numerous international conferences and publish an internal monthly Report on Selected Technologies. I have also assisted the South African National Department of Education in the drafting of the Strategic Plan for Technology Enhanced Learning (TELI). Within Technikon SA, I have developed the vision to implement a virtual campus that will operate via the Internet and co-ordinate the strategic plan for its implementation. I have also compiled an initiative document titled: The Technology Enhanced Learning Initiative in Southern Africa (TELISA).

The future of education, work and all aspects of life will be firmly woven with the Internet and I believe that this medium is essential to helping learners progress in life.
